With NEXUS / LAURIS, all processes involved in order entry and communication of findings can be mapped in all specialist areas of the laboratory (including pathology and cytology) and for all sender use cases (inpatient, outpatient and mobile).

 

A tool for senders

With NEXUS / LAURIS, you can offer your senders a tool in which orders and findings from all specialist areas of the laboratory and pathologies can be integrated and clearly displayed. You can make LAURIS available to external senders via the web, it is compatible with all modern web browsers. In this way, you can make the full functionality of LAURIS available to your customers outside your own network with very little investment. LAURIS Web is extended by web-based service specifications integrated with SWISSLAB.

 

For mobile operations teams

The LAURIS app enables mobile operations teams working in the field to take specimens from patients in mobile test centers or at the patient's door and create the corresponding laboratory orders – with minimal effort in terms of IT integration.

 

For pre-analytical QM processes

With NEXUS / LAURIS ID-CHECK, you can support your senders during pre-analytical QM processes: mobile documentation of the time the specimen was taken and the medical personnel providing treatment and prevention of specimen mix-ups.

The entire blood transfusion process can also be documented and the correct assignment of blood unit to patient guaranteed.

The NEXUS / LAURIS app

Handwritten letters of referral and manual order entry are a thing of the past. From now on, patient data and laboratory orders are recorded digitally during corona examinations.

With the complete NEXUS / LAURIS APP package, consisting of the app, a smartphone and label printer as well as the necessary support and services, we offer a fast, secure and ready-to-use solution for laboratories and mobile operations teams.

 

Taking specimens: the workflow

Am I infected with coronavirus? Only a corona test can answer this question. If a person is suspected to be infected with coronavirus, an appointment for a swab test is arranged by phone by the on-call SHI team or general practitioner. In order to protect critical infrastructures, the specimen in case of suspected infection is taken not in a medical practice or emergency room of a clinic on an ad hoc basis but preferably in test centers or at the patient's home.

Mobile teams taking specimens in the field are equipped with the NEXUS / LAURIS app and a mobile label printer. Once the order data and patient data has been recorded using the app, the letter of referral for laboratory examinations (form 10C or OEGD) and the test tube are labeled with barcodes. Only then is a swab taken from the airways.

The patient's specimen is then sent to the laboratory with the letter of referral.

 

Digital order entry in the laboratory

Laboratory personnel enters the order by scanning the barcodes on the letter of referral and the test tube. This helps to prevent mix-ups during transport, and the order information is transferred directly to the laboratory information system.

The specimen is then examined by means of a molecular biological test, known as the PCR test. This test ascertains whether or not the virus is present in the specimen.

 

Direct communication of findings to patients

As soon as the results are ready, the patient can be contacted by phone directly from the laboratory or health authority. If the result is negative, it can be sent by SMS text message or the corona warning app via the laboratory's communication server, for example.

 

LAURIS ID-CHECK

Increased efficiency, greater safety: mobile quality management with NEXUS / LAURIS ID-CHECK

No system is perfect. Even with the best and most qualified employees, errors in day-to-day medical practice cannot be completely avoided. The causes are often a lack of time or distractions. NEXUS / LAURIS ID-CHECK supports doctors and care staff in preventing patient mix-ups when taking specimens or performing transfusions. The mobile application checks whether the patient and material belong together directly at the patient's bed. To do this, the codes on the patient's wristband and the test tube or blood bag are read and compared in real time. Then, a green light or warning appears.

The app is available as NEXUS / LAURIS ID-CHECK Sampling for the core laboratory and as NEXUS / LAURIS ID-CHECK Transfusion.

Secure communication

Laboratories use many different systems and items of equipment that need to communicate with one another.

Our new solution enables the communication processes between the systems supplying the data and the systems receiving the data to be defined. Information from one system is supplied to another system using various protocols and the different data formats are made compatible with one another. The data is not interpreted.
These communication processes are also clearly visualized in the form of a flowchart. An overview of all trackings is also provided. The list view of trackings makes the solution particularly user-friendly.

Legislators have defined mandatory deadlines by which providers must guarantee access to the electronic patient record. This affects hospitals, general practitioners as well as specialist centers. Failure of the provider to provide a connection for the electronic patient record will result in deductions (currently 1%) in remuneration.

NEXUS / Electronic Patient Record Cube connects your NEXUS system to the electronic patient record, meaning it can be accessed immediately.

Depending on customer requirements, either put into operation with very little effort and independently of existing systems or – if you are a more frequent user of electronic patient records – benefit from a high degree of automation thanks to in-depth integration with your specialist systems.

Large facilities and networks in particular often use various IT or outpatient systems, which can all be connected to the electronic patient record via NEXUS / Electronic Patient Record Cube. In this case, the connection to the electronic patient record can be implemented for the entire clinic IT infrastructure with a single system. This both simplifies the infrastructure and saves costs.

NEXUS / Electronic Patient Record Cube is part of your NEXUS installation and is supported by your NEXUS partner.
