Innovation partnership for modern, patient-oriented healthcare
As part of its innovation partnership, the Johannesstift Diakonie relies on the comprehensive product portfolio of NEXUS AG. This decision represents an important step in the digital transformation of the 10 hospital sites.
This includes the implementation of the KHZG-compliant patient portal (NEXUS / PORTAL), the introduction of the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), the establishment of a radiology information system (RIS) and the teleradiology portal for teleconsultation.
Currently, four out of nine Johannesstift Diakonie hospitals are already working with the NEXUS / PORTAL "online appointment booking function". Patients can register conveniently from home via the hospital website and book and manage their appointments online.
„With the 'Meine Johannesstift Diakonie-Portal', we offer our patients and their relatives a modern digital service that is intuitive to use. The range of functions has been specifically designed to offer tangible added value to everyone involved in the treatment process - from patients to hospital staff. The portal not only ensures greater transparency in the treatment process, but also relieves the burden on hospital staff by simplifying and automating workflows. The product already meets these requirements, and we are looking forward to further expanding central functions such as document exchange.“

Seamless integration and user-friendly portal solutions to optimize clinical processes
Seamless integration with the existing NEXUS primary systems, in particular the hospital information system NEXUS/KIS-NG), is based on established communication standards (HL7, FHIR). This ensures a smooth user experience as well as an optimization of the admission processes. For patients who cannot use their portal account independently, e.g. children or patients who require a legal guardian, it is possible for "third parties" to manage their account. In addition, the "Patient Intranet CMS" module of the Johannesstift Diakonie enables static CMS content such as ward pages or FAQs to be seamlessly integrated into NEXUS / PORTAL alongside portal content. This ensures that patients are comprehensively informed and optimally cared for.
The new, intuitive operation of the NEXUS / PORTAL ensures an outstanding user experience, which is a decisive reason for the high level of use of the portal by the patients of the Johannesstift Diakonie.
NEXUS / CHILI, NEXUS / DEUTSCHLAND and Johannesstift Diakonie are looking forward to continuing their excellent collaboration as part of the innovation partnership. The focus is on implementing further use cases and continuously optimizing processes. Other key aspects include the structured exchange of documents, the implementation of video consultations, asynchronous chat communication and the integration of evaluation and questionnaires into the treatment process, which can be easily created and analyzed by clinic users in the form editor.
A particular highlight of the NEXUS / PORTAL is that, in addition to bidirectional document exchange, medical image data (DICOM image data) can also be made available to patients and referring physicians and viewed in the integrated NG web viewer. Johannesstift Diakonie is thus successfully relying on digital solutions that are revolutionizing patient care and paving the way for modern, patient-oriented healthcare.
